Travel by sea
Hy-Line Cruises & Steamship Authority
Both the Hyline and the Steamship Authority ferries depart Hyannis to Nantucket Harbor.
You can choose to take the fast ferry (1 hour and recommended) or traditional ferry (2.5 hours) Both ferries will drop you right in town.
We recommend making a round trip reservation in advance! Parking close to the ferries is available. The Steamship Authority offers shuttles to off-site lots that are typically less expensive, but parking nearby in the daily rate lots is very convenient.
Seastreak
Skip the cape traffic and board the Seastreak should you be traveling from New York and Connecticut. With daily departures from New Bedford directly to Nantucket, it’s the quickest way to get to the island while cutting down your driving time.
Seastreak also has routes from New Jersey / New York City from East 35th St NYC or Highlands, NJ to Nantucket
via their Martha’s Vineyard Route. This is an option however, not recommended as it’s approximately 6 hours and seas can be rough.
